Introduction and context
The digital revolution which is taking place, provides a spin-off in the pedagogic field. Itineraries that can be made individual have replaced linear and little flexible learning courses to be followed autonomously. Such itineraries associate the free use of multimedia didactic material to moments that allow the actors of online training to interact.
It is important to think about the opportunities offered by the new technologies in the field of learning/teaching, so that the potentialities of interaction and sociability are utmost exploited.

The project
The Leonardo ICT BASED LEARNING project was born out of the experience drawn from the previous italian project, “Creazione e diffusione di modelli di formazione per impiegati di istituti sociali e religiosi di formazione del centro nord Italia attraverso l’uso dell’information e communication technologies ” (anni 2003/2004). The latter has defined a model of continuous learning for teachers, centered on the supply of a training course on the use of new didactic technologies – with both class and distant learning.

The aim
The Leonardo ICT BASED LEARNING project wants to spread in Europe the previous experience, improved by methodological and content adjustments linked to the use of the new Web 2.0 technologies.
The action will pursue a better training offer of the schools involved in the project thanks to the professional growth of their teachers, as much as to the building of a net of institutions able to promote and spread continuous learning and the best practices they have already experimented.

The course transfer phase was started
The Coordinating and Scientific Committee, convened for the II seminar of the project, unanimously assessed the validity of the training course already taken by the 3 “pilot” schools, and started the “transfer” process. All the partner school institutes were contacted and were asked to schedule the meetings. The planned activity will end in the month of June.
All the institutes will be able to access the reserved area of the site, they will be allowed to use the didactic material available, and will be led by the leader and the tutor for the length of the training course and in the experimentation phase of the VLE.

The schools involved are the following:

  • ISTITUTI PARITARI FILIPPIN (Paderno del Grappa – Italy)
  • LICEO LINGUISITICO MARCELLINE (Bozen – Italy)
  • PENSIONNAT DU SACRE' COEUR (Reims – France)
  • ISTITUTO ORSOLINE F.M.I (Chieti – Italy)
  • CASA RELIGIOSA COLLEGIO DON BOSCO (Pordenone – Italy)
  • LICEO GINNASIO GIOVANNI PAOLO II (Lecce – Italy)
  • CENTRO NAZIONALE OPERE SALESIANE LIGURIA TOSCANA (Genoa – Italy)
  • LICEO LINGUISTICO EUROPEO PARITARIO "CALASANZIO" (Sanluri – Italy)
  • COLLEGIO VESCOVILE BARBARIGO (Padua – Italy)
  • ISTITUTO GONZAGA (Milan – Italy)
  • ST. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE/DE LA SALLE COLLEGE (Belfast – United Kingdom)

Our first results…
Our partner, CESEW, Catholic Education Service for England and Wales, has officially requested a technical meeting in England to study the aspects of how to apply the project, and how to spread it. The objective, set within a mainstream view, is to test the validity of the didactic model, and to spread it to other schools of Christian inspiration in England and in Wales.
It is an excellent way to see our project go beyond the borders of our partnership, and it will help us to strengthen the relationship among schools at an international level.

Our next step…
The final event of our project will be held in the month of September: on that occasion we will have the opportunity of sharing the experience that has lasted for two years, and to spread both products and closing results to all interested parties, be them institutional or not. We will be able to introduce our work to all our colleagues, to training institutions, to schools, to stakeholders, and to those policy makers that, at a European level, are interested in the themes we have developed. It will be an unrepeatable occasion for our project to continue in the production of results even after the already planned expiration date. It is a common commitment to which we have all been called! We are already working to grant full success to the event, and have contacted our partners to choose a possible day for our next meeting.
